Harela Foundation team is a group of common citizens who are passionate about Environment by contributing their efforts towards preserving and saving the Environment, promote Health and Education of BPL community. The core team is from diverse professional fields having a common goal towards Environment.
The Environment is inclusive of elements like Earth, Sky, Wind, Fire, Water, Flora, Fauna, Birds, Animals so on and so forth have direct impact on human life. Any imbalance in Environment which is largely due to human intervention can be devastating. We are already witnessing shortage of water, unprecedented floods, drought, pollution, rare diseases due to pollution, rapid extinction of wild life, marine life, UVR penetrating the Ozone layer and Global warming. It is imperative to harness this environmental degradation by collective actions since 90% of the world population is badly affected; India is 14 th polluted country out of 15 worst polluted countries in the world. We must sit up and act now.
The trees are being cut all over the world with impunity in the name of development. The oceans, rivers and water bodies are polluted to dangerous levels. Rain water is polluted due to raised levels of Sulfate and Nitrate contents in the air which affects all living and non-living elements on earth. Air pollution is rampant which can’t be seen, it is odorless but is life threatening and adversely affects the flora fauna. The most dangerous of all is mindless use of Plastic which is non- biodegradable, a major cause of soil erosion/degradation, water pollution, air pollution due to burning, the chemicals in plastic are life threatening. In 2012 the Supreme Court of India pronounced that the Plastic use is akin to the devastating effect of Nuclear Bomb for coming generations. The Govt. of India has taken the initiative to fight the Plastic menace by banning single use of plastic with effect from 02nd Oct 2019. Harela Foundation has taken it upon them to go all out to achieve this goal.
